Ladies and Skeletons, Boys and Ghouls..

I hope everyone has their costume picked out because the stores are probably out of stock by now. I’m going as a ninja because its’ a “when all else fails” kind of costume. All I need is a black rag to wear around my face and some black clothing. I didn’t plan ahead.
Today I thought I would share with you some frightfully good treats and some devilish tricks.
If you’re in a similar predicament, you should check out 9 fun last minute halloween costumes on Inventor Spot.
If you haven’t yet carved your pumpkin, here is a post from Slashfilm that features Cinematic Pumpin Carvings.
When you’re out with your camera on Halloween, there aren’t always the best lighting conditions. To capture the best photos of your friends’ costume or Halloween decorations, have a look at Halloween Photography tips over at Digital Photography School.

MBL contest update
October 30, 2007 | 0 Responses
Well, October 26th came and went and our first contest has come to a close. We are now almost midway through the following week and you must be wondering who the winner is.
The MyBlogLog contest didn’t go as well as I had hoped. Currently there is only one legitimate entry. I will be contacting the winner and updating the situation afterwards. I’m a little disappointed with the turn-out. Although it hasn’t soured me from doing future contests.
In retrospect, I suppose I should have either promoted it more or offered a better prize. I think, in the excitement of unveiling my first contest, I overlooked the preliminary planning that should have taken place. Things like pre-announcements, possibly even an email list, contacting other blogs, distributing a graphic advertisement, maybe even paying for some ads.
For those of you that have thought about or actually done a contest of your own before, what things worked and didn’t work for you? What could I have done differently?
Hooray for being average
In other news I was pleasantly surprised with the latest Google update. I logged in expecting no changes and saw that I had risen to a PageRank of 4. It is increasingly considered to be a generic pagerank of the utmost satisfactory and nothing beyond that websites, but I’m still pleased that I’ve managed to make an improvement.
The benefits of going pro
October 16, 2007 | 1 Response
In light of the recent contest announcement, in which the prize I am looking to give away to one lucky reader is a 1 year subscription to a MyBlogLog pro account, I thought I would take a minute to discuss the benefits of ‘going pro’.
Essentially, what is affected by making the pro upgrade is, first and foremost, your stats tracking. MyBlogLog has a very interesting stats page that allows you to see where readers came from (reffering site), what readers viewed (pagesviews), and what readers clicked (clickthroughs). These are probably the three most important things any blogger needs to know about their readers.
With the free version of MyBlogLog you are able to see the last ten of each statistic on a given day. You are only able to view the stats for the previous day that you are looking. Yesterday. If you want to see the stats for today. That is, if you want to see your stats updated in real time, you need to have a pro account. Also, if you want to see more than the latest ten stats for the day you are looking, you also need a pro account.
Now that you know what you are getting, and are able to see the value in this prize. Don’t you feel its worth linking to this site for a chance at the free MBL pro account? Its’ valued at $25 but all it will cost you is the time it takes to post a link to Needless Productions. Even if your name isn’t drawn at the end of the contest (October 26th) you will still see the benefits of a free backlink for everyone who enters in the wrap-up post. Check out the contest details here.
Choose the right design before you get inked

Choosing a tattoo is a serious decision. It is going to be there for life. Do you really want to choose it in the store on a spur of the moment decision? Tattoo parlors can be really fun places to hang out, but you might feel pressured to be quick about your choice to accommodate the artist who is waiting on you. Wouldn’t you rather have made up your mind before you go in? Continue reading Choose the right design before you get inked…
