Digital camera outlet

August 10, 2007 | 0 Responses

Did you know that digital cameras are the number 1 requested holiday gift? It doesn’t suprise me at all. I often see people who would, in other situations, have nothing else to talk about had they not brought their trusty digi cam out with them that day.

People love to yak mega pixels and SD card computability. Sometimes I get approached by strangers with tips when I’m out in the streets somewhere shooting. Its just human nature. Or maybe its geeky nature. Either way, we all seem to love them.

That is why its easy for me to review a site selling cameras exclusively. http://www.ritzcamera.com has many top camera makes and models. Cameras that I would use myself. And they have them at clearance prices.

Digital SLRs are in rising demand these days. They are fast becoming recognized as industry standard professional devices. Ritz are offering Nikon Digital/SLRs at impressively low prices.

They offer a wider range of electronics as well. Such as iPods, recording media, mini DV accessories and the like, but the deals they have on camera are the most surprising.

I love to see a merchant website that goes the extra little bit and has live representatives on site to help out the customers. It is services like that which allow sites like this to exceed in reputation and no doubt in sales.

Stop letting other people tell you what to read

August 8, 2007 | 0 Responses

Social networking and personal news delivery sites are a great way to get the diversified information that appeals to your interests, but many of these sites have ranking systems that keep stories buried so far down you may never find them.

Get the news you want to read. Not the stories that other people have ranked for you.

Thoof is a social news site that outranks others by not ranking at all. Where a site like Digg allows the wealth of the users to determine the relevance or importance of a stories, at Thoof it is all about the individual.

You wont see any “Most Popular” or “Highest Rating” views of the information on Thoof. You are instead able to browse the related tags of stories you like and every story you click is kept on your history page. From there you are able to Edit the description if you find it misleading or send the story to a friend if you still like it.

Thoof is personalized news at its’ best. Instead of going by the majority rules scenario, Thoof.com operates much more like Wikipedia, allowing users to correct each other on a reasonable basis in order to serve the community with the most accurate descriptions of the news content available.

Thoof even adds off-site functionality with the easy to use, easy to install Thoof It button. It is actually quite clever. All you have to do is drag the Thoof It button from their site onto your bookmarks bar in your browser. When you have a story or video that you want Thoofed, you just click the bookmark.

Once that is submitted, you are given a ThoofRank Badge that can be embedded into your article. Is this starting to sound familiar? Well, they are trying to add some new value.

“ThoofRank, is a fair measurement of how interesting a story is to readers with interests in common with the story. It is expressed as a percentage relative to other Thoof stories, so a ThoofRank above 50% indicates that a story is of above average interest to those readers.”

When you tie in the aspect of people with similar interest, you are further eliminating the possibility of the stories you want to read being buried by the ones the general site population wants to read.

Look to the stars with the MySky

Meade MySky

Ever look up at the sky and try to remember all the constellations? Even if you know more than a few, its still practically impossible to be able to identify everything that you see.

The conventional telescope can’t tell you what you are looking at. It will certainly give you a better look but technology has come a long way.

Meade and Optics Planet have unleashed an amazing new astronomy gadget. The Meade MySky is a personal video planetarium that allows you to learn more about the universe than you could with your own private astronomer.

Meade MySky allows the viewer to identify over 30, 000 celestial objects at a click of a button. It is similar to Celestron SkyScout, MySky goes a step further featuring a full-color LCD screen and the ability to control a Meade computerized telescope.

OpticsPlanet.com has a wealth of information on binoculars like these.

Hair Raising Anime Adventures

click for full size I’ve always enjoyed really off the wall and zany anime cartoons, so when I got the opportunity to review Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and be part of a select few (hundred;) to preview the first few episodes, I jumped at the chance.

So the rundown goes like this: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is the afro dude who is out to save hair everywhere from being shaved off by Baldy Bald of the evil Chrome Dome Empire. Bo’s weapons of choice: Extending nose hairs and military grade boogers.
Check out the Official Website!

Along with the irreverent, slapsticky humour suggested by the subject matter alone, theres also a healthy dose of cultural parody and satire to be enjoyed by the thicker skinned humour enthusiast.

Hilarity ensues throughout the insane adventures and Illumitoon Entertainment have taken anime irreverence to a new level on this one.

Illumitoon had been critisized for putting English subtitles instead of the Japanese subtitles on it’s DVDs. Some fans were upset so, in order to show they were paying attention, Illumitoon issued a trade-in program that allows anyone with “Dubtitled” versions to send their DVD in and get the Japanese Subtitled version.
