Well, October 26th came and went and our first contest has come to a close. We are now almost midway through the following week and you must be wondering who the winner is.
The MyBlogLog contest didn’t go as well as I had hoped. Currently there is only one legitimate entry. I will be contacting the winner and updating the situation afterwards. I’m a little disappointed with the turn-out. Although it hasn’t soured me from doing future contests.
In retrospect, I suppose I should have either promoted it more or offered a better prize. I think, in the excitement of unveiling my first contest, I overlooked the preliminary planning that should have taken place. Things like pre-announcements, possibly even an email list, contacting other blogs, distributing a graphic advertisement, maybe even paying for some ads.
For those of you that have thought about or actually done a contest of your own before, what things worked and didn’t work for you? What could I have done differently?
Hooray for being average
In other news I was pleasantly surprised with the latest Google update. I logged in expecting no changes and saw that I had risen to a PageRank of 4. It is increasingly considered to be a generic pagerank of the utmost satisfactory and nothing beyond that websites, but I’m still pleased that I’ve managed to make an improvement.
