Load times are definitely affected if the whole site is flash. Flash headers load fast but still allow crawlers to crawl the site. Essentially if flash were a marginal technology that few could implement it would not have been so horrenduously over used and we would not be tired of it. Instead a bunch of 'designers' picked up and got good with Macromedia Fireworks or similar and we ended up with whole sites of Flash. Used selectively and with sense it is a useful way of putting some eye-candy in. Otherwise I would restrict it solely to playing vids... Flash is great - which is why it sucks.

Essentially if flash were a marginal technology that few could implement it would not have been so horrenduously over used and we would not be tired of it.

Instead a bunch of ‘designers’ picked up and got good with Macromedia Fireworks or similar and we ended up with whole sites of Flash.
