		<description>Yeah the DMOZ clones are really great for the barrage of backlinks that come with them, but I'm not sure they are really good for anything more than an ego boost. The clones don't typically rank very high search engines.</description>

		<description>Great post. I am actually working on a few things now that could get me extra listings in DMOZ, but i never thought of submitting them to other categories.

I think that the biggest benefit of getting in a good DMOZ category is it come with lots of extra links. One site I worked on got into a very prestigious category on DMOZ and subsequently got about 300 links from DMOZ clones. The more obscure categories don't seem to get as much attention.

Also, a lot of DMOZ editors are tossy web designers just looking to plug themselves and their clients, so they may block quality competiton.</description>
