Look towards the North star tonight to see a spectacular show that comes around once a year.

Perseids, which look like shooting or falling stars, appear every August as Earth passes close to the Swift-Tuttle comet. Debris from the comet’s tail enters Earth’s atmosphere and the rocks give off light as they burn up.

Last year’s show was said to be something of a dissapointment. But if you can get far enough away from city lights and air pollution, you are in for one fantastic night.

Keep your eyes on the sky from 1 am Monday morning, to around 4 am where there is promised to be as many as 60 to 90 streaks per hour.
